Canada: Organizations Seek Higher Ambition Similar to Scorecard 2020 Campaign

As part of Climate Scorecard Report #17 we asked our Country Managers to provide a list of organizations in their countries that might help support our 2020 Campaign. Over the next several months we hope to explore whether the organizations listed below, and others, are interested in supporting the Campaign and implementing the recommendations provided by our Country Managers in Report #16.

Climate Action Network Canada 

Climate Action Network is a network of several agencies that understand and respond to climate change impacts and policy efforts in building climate solutions. Climate Scorecard Canada is a member of this network. In March 2019, Executive Director Catherine Abreu was named one of the world’s 100 most influential people in climate policy (2018). The Pact for a Green New Deal Canada 

The Pact is a coalition looking to see emissions cut in half by 2030 and further recognize the rights of Indigenous peoples. The Pact is asking all federal political parties, leading up to the election, to put versions of the Green New Deal related to their platforms.

David Suzuki Foundation 

Always grounded in sound evidence, the Foundation empowers people to take action in their communities on the environmental challenges citizens collectively face.

Elizabeth May, MP and Leader of Canada’s Green Party strongly supports ambitious targets to achieve the IPCC findings that beyond 1.5 degrees C global temperature puts all humanity at risk, as well as millions of other species.
