Spotlight Activity: Enhancing Required Joint Efforts on Climate Action Project
Enhancing Required Joint Efforts on Climate Action Project (2017-2020) is an effort to bring together many different stakeholders to increase the environmental impact of their efforts. The goal of the Project is to mitigate the effects of climate change in Turkey. It is being implemented by The Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, with funding support from the European Union.
The center of the project is 38 grant projects which are being implemented by stakeholders such as municipalities, universities, and NGOs. These 38 projects can be examined in detail on the project website (www.iklimin.org/en). Some of them can be listed as: greening the climate—greening the local project, climate change and erosion awareness project, mitigation of climate change through sustainable management of agricultural biodiversity project (AgroCLIMA).
The action project also has training and communications components. Some of the activities organized during May under the training and communication component are: preparation of an introductory film for climate change adaptation for the sea and coasts of Antalya grant project, organizing an informative lesson in Kadir Has University, organizing a public+NGO training in the city of Bilecik for climate change, training the staff of Denizli Municipality for climate change awareness, organizing a bicycle tour in the city of Hatay.
Status: Right Direction
While this project brings together many stakeholders to implement exemplary projects, the awareness raising activities also plays a very important role.
